So when it comes to packing my doula bag ... I am overwhelmed. What can I do without, the boy scout in me says always be prepared (I know I know -- I'm a venture scout but close enough). So do I pack light, do I ask the parents to supply some stuff, or what. My first three birth supports the only thing I took was the mom. Worked out ok. Thankfully they were relatively quick labors.
So, here it is - what I will be carrying with me - just in case you might want to know.
First Aid - pain pills and benedryl
Breath Mints - you'll thank me later
Soft Pad for Kneeling ( like those gardeners use)
Essential Oils, Massage Oil, Lotion, Corn Starch Powder
Flax Seed Body Buddy
What you Might Want to Pack:
Sports or Energy Drinks
Granola Bars and other light snacks
and anything else to make you comfortable
How about a labor outfit - those hospital gowns are so tacky
slip on slippers and a robe
are you practicing relaxation techniques, if so do you use something special for support - a pillow perhaps
personal toiletries, lip balm
and anything else to make you comfortable.
AND don't forget your birth partner....
